Description
Chili pepper (chili, Latin - Capsicum frutescens or Capsicum annuum, synonyms - red pepper, hot pepper, hot pepper, hot pepper) is the name given to the fruits of the bush pepper of the Capsicum family. This spice owes its name not to the country, but to the Aztec dialect Nuatal, from which “chilli” means “red”. In trade and cooking, the phrase “chili pepper” is applied to several varieties of pepper (most often cayenne). In British English, Australia, New Zealand, India, Malaysia and other Asian countries, the word "pepper" is omitted and only the term "chili" is used.
