In Malay, Durio means "thorn", these spines protect the durian fruit from being eaten by animals. When the fruit falls to the ground, the ripening stage begins, lasting a couple of days, after which the peel bursts and the fragrant smell of pulp, delicate creamy texture, attracts all lovers of the delicious, nutritious and very healthy king of fruits. The difficulty of importing this fruit lies in the impossibility of their long-term transportation fresh, so they are brought unripe, or subjected to nitrogen freezing.
