Description
Oolong (translated from Chinese as "dark dragon") is a semi-fermented variety of Chinese tea, which is located between green and red (in our understanding, black) teas. A drink of weak fermentation is closer in color to green teas, and a strong fermentation is closer to black.
Milk oolong is not a separate type of tea, it is a flavored variety of oolong. Mostly made in Taiwan, not China. It gets the specific smell of milk thanks to natural extracts.
A drink is made from mature leaves. Freshly picked leaves are dried for an hour in the sun, after which they are placed in a basket and transferred to the shade - this is how the fermentation process begins. Every hour they are gently stirred, but they do it carefully to maintain the integrity of the structure. After fermentation, the leaves are sent for double drying. The mixing procedure is key and distinguishes oolong from other varieties.
